It’s the middle of wedding season, but with fall in the air I can’t help but think of all the gorgeous family sessions coming my way! There are so many reasons I love photographing families; showcasing the love and bond between you all with gorgeous scenery incorporated is probably my number one. When I was a kid, family portrait time was something I dreaded. That’s because our session included wearing matching white t-shirts, and standing in a Wal-Mart photo booth with a photographer trying to get my brother to smile.

Nowadays, there are so many different options for family portraits (hallelujah!). Take Katie and her family; I was contacted by Katie a few months back, saying her whole family was going to be in Newfoundland together this summer to celebrate her mom’s 65th birthday. They hadn’t all been together in years, so they booked an extended family session to document it. As a lifestyle photographer, my approach is to capture you being YOU; whether that’s in your home, a park, grabbing ice cream together, playing games; you name it. If it’s something you enjoy doing together, I want to incorporate it. Quality family photos are an investment; make sure they’re images you’re proud to show off in your home (and your kids’ friends won’t make fun of in 10 years time).

But don’t take my word for it; Katie says: “Victoria did a family shoot for us while in St. John’s, we had a fantastic time! She is lovely, professional and most importantly captured us perfectly! The photos were exactly what we were hoping to get. Highly recommend!! Thank you so much!”
